The Word Cards are designed to be used with the Flash Cards. They are identical to the Flash Cards except that there is a space between the words so that the Flash Cards can be placed over the words more easily. There are fourteen Flash Cards to each A4 page.

As with the Flash Cards, there are 47 pages of Word Cards and they have been divided into the same groups. Details of what is on each Word Card are in the Word Lists section. Click the link below to go to the page you want to print.

The Word Cards can be used on their own as wall charts or for teaching topics like colours, crops, animals, or parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. using the coloured borders as a clue to the way the words are used.

They can be used with the Flash Cards for matching or bingo-type games. Each child can have a Word Card, and the teacher can hold up a Flash Card. The first child to read the Flash Card can place it over the same word on his or her Word Card. The children can be given the Word Card without the illustrations, and the teacher can hold up the Flash Cards with illustrations, or vice versa. The first child to fill their Word Card and read it to the teacher is the winner. Children can play the same game in small groups, with the Flash Cards in a box or heap on the table.

To help children change from reading individual words to reading complete sentences, the first group of Story Cards builds short stories using the Flash Cards.
